Hindsight is a Wonderful Thing
Are you among many people whose past mistakes still rule their lives?
I hope not. Hindsight is truly a wonderful thing. It’s easy to regret events and decisions that happened a while back. Some people never get over making the wrong decisions.
I’m Not one of them.
MISTAKES, BAD DECISIONS AND IMPULSIVE ACTIONS ARE PART OF LIFE.
IT’S WHAT WE LEARN FROM THEM THAT MATTERS MOST.
Sure, I’m as guilty as anyone of making bad decisions, but they’re in the past and not
part of my life and who I am now. I married the wrong man a lifetime ago, chose the wrong career path and believed I had the best people in my life. I quickly learned who to trust and not. That was a long time ago and now I know who and what truly make a difference. I’m as happy and fulfilled as can be expected in a world that struggles with all kinds of adversities; climate changes, terrorism, unimaginable sufferings and much more.
LIFE IS WHAT WE MAKE OF IT.
Instead of focusing on past mistakes, I live in the present and for the future and surround myself with the people and things I love and care about. Support from loved ones and friendships nurtured over time, my cat’s unconditional love and loyalty, literature and writing, and working with people mean more to me than dwelling on the past. HINDSIGHT IS GOOD TO AN EXTENT BECAUSE IT MAKES US REALISE WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHY. But no amount of time will erase what happened and we can’t go back in time and amend the problem and actions.
The only thing I regret is the time wasted and heartbreak. It’s the reason I value and appreciate special people and the things I engage with in my life.
People frequently get stuck in a time warp, meaning they’re incapable of moving on and not fixate on a certain period of time. When that happens, Everything here and now, and the future don’t exist as much as it should. I’m not referring to fashion and other trends, but how difficult it can be to get on with life irrelevant of past events and circumstances.
Some people turn to drugs for temporary relief and others simply shut down mentally. Both are a lethal combination. Don’t permit past mistakes and choices to rule your life.
Learn from them and move on and find the happiness and fulfillment you deserve.
